If you haven't already checked it out- take a listen! I had the wonderful opportunity to be interviewed by the Work FM 93.9 WRWK on their new series, "Useful People" where I got to talk about Speaking In Spoons: A chronically ill podcast along with my work as an advocate and coach. Also shout out to REV UP Virginia as an incredible non partisan organization that works to lobby for bills that help the disability community that I neglected to mention in the interview.

YES! YES! YES! Long post - sorry not sorry.

Okay, so for so many years, the autism community had only a few notable shows (two I can think of) that spotlighted characters living on the spectrum. The problem is that most of those productions, including the Broadway production of CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, did not cast an actor on the spectrum to play the part.

This weekend, however, a new play, THE PUZZLE, will be streaming (you bet we will be watching). The play is about an autistic boy (non-verbal) who comes into contact with two clowns and how they connect. Michael Stahler, an actor living with autism, portrays the character with autism 🤯

Further investigation of this show uncovered that the show had a beautiful “social story” for their relaxed performance, as well as sensory information pertaining to the production online.

As a mom, with a child on the spectrum, seeing this kind of representation and inclusion means everything.
