Since launching on July 31, 1949, WPKE has been a cornerstone of local broadcasting from Peach Orchard Mountain in Pikeville. Inspired by “The Lone Ranger,” Walter E. May transitioned from a young fan to disc jockey and then owner, building a legacy now continued by his daughter Cindy May Johnson and Mountain Top Media LLC.

Today, WPKE, known as The GOAT, broadcasts on 98.1 FM, 104.5 FM, and 960 and 1240 AM, featuring a mix of genres from every decade. Tune in for hits from Conway Twitty to Taylor Swift and catch Paul Manuel’s Get Up & GOAT Show every morning!
