SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
928 AM EST Sun Feb 16 2025

The National Weather Service in JACKSON KY has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 10:30 am for the followings areas:

• Pike County in southeastern Kentucky
• Floyd County in southeastern Kentucky
• Southeastern Magoffin County in southeastern Kentucky
• Letcher County in southeastern Kentucky
• Knott County in southeastern Kentucky
• Eastern Perry County in southeastern Kentucky
• Southeastern Breathitt County in southeastern Kentucky
• Northeastern Harlan County in southeastern Kentucky

* At 928 AM EST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Daisydell to 6 miles southeast of Pennington Gap, moving east at 60 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Severe thunderstorms will be near...
• Whitesburg around 935 AM EST.
• Estill around 940 AM EST.
• Jenkins around 945 AM EST.

Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Pikeville, Rockhouse and Elkhorn City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of abuilding.

Officials with the city of Pikeville are closing US 23 at both the Cassidy Boulevard and Mossy Bottom intersections. Water is over the highway at both locations. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
