When I first learned about ribbon mics, I was told to NEVER run phantom power through them. But now with active ribbon mics, like these SE VR2, you have to run phantom through them! I still get nervous doing it for some reason though lol!

Have you ever tried to re-amp a guitar you tracked but the amp be buzzin? Then you should get this box, or something similar! It’s like a reverse DI box that converts balanced signal to unbalanced and it works like a charm!

It’s 101 baby! It’s silly but after we penned the lease and saw the sign for the first time, it felt pretty cool! We moved to about a year and a half ago and it was the best decision we ever made! Moving during the pandemic had its advantages and disadvantages, but ultimately was for the best. If you want to see this sign in person YOU’RE IN LUCK! It’s a JC 120! First released in 1975, this amp is clean with a capital C! Roland claims that the chorus effect built into this amp is actually the first chorus effect, which I didn’t know! You’ll notice there’s a lot of spaghetti connected to the speakers, that’s because there’s actually 2 60watt amps, each powering one of the speakers. This is how the JC 120 achieves its mesmerizing stereo chorus effect, v cool! Put a mic on each speaker and stereo pan them, you’ll get a bigger spread than grandmas thanksgiving!

Ah yes, the Sennheiser 421, a classic! You’ll see these on toms and guitar cabs all the time, mostly due to its large diaphragm element that lets it get up close and personal on the loudest of sources.

One of the best “secret weapon” type tricks with this mic is the on axis/off axis technique on speaker cabinets. If you haven’t tried it before, TRY IT! It’s a game changer for sure!

Also, out all the mics, this one looks most like a phaser from Star Trek, a huge plus!!

This here is a Sennheiser MD 441 and it’s been called the best dynamic mic ever made! It has a hyper cardioid pick pattern and a hum compensation coil built in for a clean loud direct signal capture. They’re also easy on the eyes if you ask me! What’s better than having one? Having a pair!! Don’t they look so sweet together!

A big box that holds all your small boxes is called a this one was designed by and built in conjunction with who runs a wood working company. It’s funny how it starts with a prototype and some plain slabs in the back of a truck and ends with a functional piece of studio furniture!
