Ocean Sunset Drug hosted the Health & Wellness Fair 2024 at the old Ace Building at 171 E Chance A La Mer on Saturday, January 20. (Below are some photos from the event.)

The Fair featured different areas that focused on different aspects of health and wellness like physical health, mental health, art & health, healthy foods and even a "rage room" where participants could unload their frustrations.

According to Ocean Sunset owner Jackie Fisher, the fair was a way to give back to the community for the public's ongoing support. "We opened in November 2019, just as the Covid epidemic hit," said Fisher. "We have been able to weather that storm because of our loyal customers."

Organizations and businesses with tables at the event included Beach Bum Jiu Jitsu, Ocean Shores Community Club, Ocean Shores Food Bank, Ocean Shores Parks, Ocean Shores Urgent Care, Summit Pacific, Harbor Regional Health, North Beach Senior Resource Center, Greg White for Su***de Prevention, State Farm Insurance and Electric Beach Bike Rentals.

Muckleshoot Tribal Chairman Jaison Elkins helped mark the start of a $1 billion federal program on Thursday to remove, replace and restore culverts that thwart fish passage.

Flanked by officials at Carey Creek in Issaquah, including U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Elkins said his elders had made an agreement with the salmon: "We'll take care of them, and they'll take care of us."

He said burgeoning development and harmful culverts stymied that promise ... but the new program, through which tribes can apply for funds, is a step to help correct course.

'A victory for common sense'

The European parliament has voted to introduce a single charging port for mobile phones, tablets and cameras by 2024 in a move that presents difficulties for Apple, whose iPhones use a different power connector.

The vote confirms an earlier agreement among EU institutions and will make USB-C connectors used by Android-based devices the EU standard, forcing Apple to change its charging port for its devices.

Among big providers of electronic devices to European customers, Apple is expected to be among the most affected, but analysts also expect a possible positive impact because it could encourage shoppers to buy the companyโ€™s latest gadgets instead of ones without USB-C.

The deal also covers e-readers, earbuds and other technologies, meaning it may also have an impact on Samsung, Huawei and other device makers, analysts said.

Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, said the vote made it โ€œinevitableโ€ that the iPhone 15, expected in 2023, will have a USB-C port.

Apple has in the past warned that the proposal would hurt innovation and create waste.

โ€œThis is a victory for common sense. Although Apple has a huge installed base of lightning cable-powered devices, the ubiquity of USB-C across all consumer electronics products means that harmonising on USB-C makes perfect sense.โ€
