Happy Independence Day to all! July 4th is one of our most treasured holidays. 🇺🇸 It serves to celebrate Freedom and the Blessings of Liberty! Perfect the United States of America is not, but we’re still the greatest nation on earth! There’s only one measuring stick that truly measures a nation’s greatness: People vote with their feet!

Perhaps this year, consider establishing a new family/neighborhood Independence Day tradition by adding to your July 4th repertoire of feasts and fireworks the gathering together of the young and the old and everyone in between, all taking a seat, and reading aloud the Declaration of Independence. Might I also suggest taking turns, each person reading one sentence at a time, and going around and around until complete? “Oh, who has time for that?” you say? Good news: The Declaration of Independence is only 1,320 words; 1,337 if you include its title and then 1,458 with all the signers’ names. In my view, the best place to download a copy of the Declaration of Independence is from the Library of Congress – LoC.gov.
