The Flow EP is OUT NOW! 🔥

Originally released in 2016, Jackson Yard Records is happy to re-release this amazing album, now available on all digital platforms ⚡️

‘The Flow’ came together as Hawaii’s Puna region and the town of Pāhoa were under threat from the Big Island’s most active volcano, Pele. Just like the volcano, this album has boldness and intensity mixed with a relaxed island vibe, similar to lava slowly making its way from the Kilauea Crater to the sea. Tubby Love, Will Lydgate, Paul Izak, Ben Teters and I dedicated ourselves to creating a more classic Reggae sound; we kept synthesizers, drum machines and newer electronic sounds out of the recording. The final product is an all natural, phat groove that moves the body while expanding the mind with conscious lyrics. This album represents a unique blend of African traditional music with an old-school reggae sound.

‘3 Days’ — the third single from ‘The Flow’ is OUT NOW!! 🎶 🔥

3 Days is Based off an ancient African proverb from Mali that says “on our first day we are born into the hands of others. On our second day, or phase of life, we are born into our own hands, and then on the third day we return to the hand of the creator.” Nobody escapes this, especially the third day. ‘3 Days’ implores one to recognize their impermanence here on earth, and because of that we have little time to complete our works here. What kind of mark do you want to make? What good deeds do you want to leave behind? This song has a universal message and speaks to children of a mother’s womb, people living under the same moon and beings of one creator for whom I sing the song for. Like many others on the album, ‘Three Days’ features the Mbira (thumb piano) which has been electrified here and is from the Shona people of Zimbabwe.

📢 JUST RELEASED 📢 Pele, the second single from THE FLOW is out now 🔥🔥🔥

With a deep old school reggae sound, ‘Pele’ tells the story of life on the Big Island of Hawaii and living with the reality and threat of an active Volcano. The bass and drums pulse, pushing the song forward, like lava flows towards the ocean, clearing the way for chopping guitars and keyboards, taking down trees and you with it. ‘Pele’ was written during a time when the Town of Pahoa on the eastern side of the island of Hawaii was facing destruction as a massive wall of lava slowly rolled towards the city streets and all who lived there. Songwriter Grammy award winner, Chris Berry was later asked about his home that was burnt down in the Lava disasters he was reported to say “I give to the queen what I desired. The land I never owned.”
