Hey everybody,
I wanted to jump in and give you all an update on what's been happening. I apologize for all the drama. First I initially tried to make a video, but after spending half a day in tears yesterday, I looked like a mess, and truth be told, I haven't had the mental energy to make a new one.
Let's talk about the contest:
Here's what went down: I rushed into it. I should have held off until the website was good to go for a contest like this. I now know that Facebook isn't the best platform for contests, and to add to that, it turns out running a contest like that one on FB isn't even allowed. So, you won't catch me doing that again, ever. The whole situation and how it turned out has really shaken me, and I won't be attempting something like this again even on the website.
When things started going south (the scam pages), I seriously considered ending the contest. But, I was pressured to keep it going. Looking back, I should have trusted my instincts and ended it. I apologize for that.
Things escalated pretty fast, and dealing with all the hate mail was really tough. People were saying that I was causing them to lose clients, and I even got a message that said, "You better figure this out or else." Then came the blame game, everyone pointing fingers, and deep down, I had a feeling that something wasn't right. I still don't have the full picture of what happened, but I had to pull the plug and stop the contest to prevent the negativity from spreading further. I'm sorry things went so badly.
I never want to do anything that could harm this community, and unfortunately, this contest did just that. Let me finish by saying that I absolutely love this community. I've poured countless hours into making magazines(895 issues), creating content, videos, guides, and so much more. I don't want to let that go. I hold myself to high standards, and managing everything eats up over 40 hours each week. The magazine doesn't bring in enough money to support that. The only ads in the magazine are for things I've personally made and maintain. That adds even more hours to my already jam-packed schedule. I can't keep up with it all. I'm not quitting, but I will be slowing down. My focus is on myself, my kids, and my house (which seems to have endless issues).
For everyone who has been supportive, thank you. The words of encouragement really helped me. ❤
Thank you everyone who has been here over the last 3+ years, thank you to everyone for sticking through all this drama and crap. I'm sorry again, I was lead to believe a contest like this would be easy and fun, but it was none of that.
Recap:
-No more contests with prize money
-Less magazines coming out (starting in September)
-Stripe shows all refunds are processing and none have failed, but it will be 4-9 days before refunds finish processing

💬Ramblings & Updates 💭
After a stressful couple weeks I decided to do something for me. I spent the last few hours finally finishing setting my new desk up with my big monitor so working is easier. ✨ Having a walking desk has been the best, I rotate between walking and sitting while working and now my hips and back feel so much better.

Finishing up a few issues and they will be scheduled for this week. ♥️
