Charley Crockett is a Rock Star. For the first time in New Orleans I saw him play in front of 2000+ folks singing his songs. It was Country/Soul Church. I'm happy for him and I'm grateful that I got to see him play all kinds of venues along the way. Much like when I saw the Black Pumas earlier this year at The Saenger Theatre, they've all arrived.

I wish I could explain how much I love creating radio programs that feature the artists and music that adds so much depth to my life. Booking, conducting, recording, and editing interviews; listening, selecting, and mixing music tracks; creating, bedding, and editing voice tracks; and lastly taking all these sound files and compressing them into a two or three hour show, several shows a week, every week of the year... In terms of 'work' there's the component parts, but in terms of love, there's no words.

Hey amigos! I know I post a ton about music here in New Orleans, but I really want to make sure you know about a contemporary hero of mine playing in New Orleans at Chickie Wah Wah for the first time in two weeks. Aaron Lee Tasjan is a transformative singer songwriter, guitar shredder and producer. He's been in the New York Dolls, Drivin N Cryin and Elizabeth Cook's band. His solo material is absolutely amazing and he has a current album out now which is one of my favorite releases this year. I know it's hot. I know it's August and hurricane season, but if you're in town on Wednesday August 21st, there's no better place to be than Chickie for this show.
