Oscar Brown was an American singer, songwriter, playwright, poet, and civil rights activist. Known for putting lyrics to Nat Adderley's "Work Song" and Miles Davis' "All Blues", he also occasionally incorporated Latin elements into his set, going as far as releasing a collaborative album with Brazilian guitarist Luiz Henrique. We'll be playing some Oscar on this Friday's episode of Jazz Tropical, along with more Latin jazz, soul, and bossa classics. Tune in to New Orleans Public Radio!
