You're not imagining things....the modern New Orleans Tribune is part of a publishing legacy that began 147 years ago, when Roudanez published the first Black daily newspaper in the United States. Then, as now, The Tribune is dedicated to social justice and civil rights for all Louisiana citizens. Like their successors, Beverly Stanton McKenna, Dr. Dwight McKenna, and Dr. S. Mark McKenna, Roudanez
broke new ground in American journalism. James parish and reared in New Orleans, Roudanez studied medicine in Paris, France, where he earned his first degree. He received a second medical degree at New Hampshire's Dartmouth College. Roudanez used his newspaper and medical practice to bridge the gap between African-Americans and the majority population. Dwight and Mark McKenna have been similarly inspirited. In fact, the McKenna's' began the modern New Orleans Tribune in 1985, in part to honor Louis Charles Roudanez' amazing journalistic legacy. So when you pick up a copy of the modern New Orleans Tribune, you are not only picking up one of the most respected African-American community newsmagazines in America, you are sharing a part of history -- a contemporary publication that speaks to the issues of today ,as eloquently and as forcefully as Roudanez did back then. We don't publish The Tribune in French and English the way Roudanez did in the 1860's, but we think he would have been proud of how well our Tribune speaks the language of the modern African-American experience.

Biden will leave the race. Now what? Another question, where does VP Harris figure in the new ticket? If she isn't on it, then we will know for sure that we were right, this was less about Biden's mental acuteness and more about race and fear. Oh and the Democratic Party still needs to get it together.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign on Sunday after fellow Democrats lost faith in his mental acuity and ability to beat Donald Trump, leaving the presidential race in uncharted territory.

Frantz Elementary School is the campus that six-year-old Ruby Bridges integrated on Nov. 14, 1960. Among those celebrating the placement of this marker was Carl Bridges, Ruby Bridges' brother. Taking a moment with The New Orleans Tribune, he reflected on the pride he feels today while also recalling the sacrifice his family made decades ago.
