Welcoming our second Spring intern, Mason Lewter! Mason Lewter is a senior at Indiana University Southeast, pursuing a degree in International Studies and a minor in Sociology. Mason found his passion for Asian culture and heritage through his high school Japanese language program. The program taught him a lot about interacting with people of different backgrounds and learning how to help where he can. Being a prominent member of his class, he continued to study Asian culture and politics during his college career.
At Asia Institute – Crane House, Mason is helping us for three months and contributing to two major projects, Project Hope and the QTAPI initiative. During Mason’s time here, he is excited to see cultural expression during May, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and June, LGBT+ Pride Month. He is joining us at a time where Asia Institute – Crane House is thriving and passionate about continuing our appreciation and education for Asian culture.
Follow us down the Yellow Brick Road in this beloved classic movie, The Wizard of Oz, on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 8pm in Hillside Hall 104.
When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow that needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West to earn his help. This movie highlights good versus evil, home, self love, and friendship.
