Tracking drums in our Studio A live room has been a dream. Log cabin diffusion walls & fabric-track absorption walls paired with 20ft high ceilings & hardwood floors all make for bloomy & natural room tones. With a wide array of microphones, drums in this room captured through a vintage 1970s API console is magical. We have 5 vintage house kits with a wide range of drum sizes - everything from a 1960s Gretsch round-badge, vintage Ludwig’s & Slingerland to our iconic Rogers Holiday kit. We also have a beautiful collection of snares, including recording staples like the Black Beauty, Acrolite & Supraphonic to more unique snares like our wooden marching drums, popcorn & piccolo snares. We even have a few sets of house cymbals ranging from Zildjian K Constantinoples, Kerope’s and more!

Our cozy log-iso in Studio A is outfitted with a beautiful antique 1955 Steinway 45” upright piano that can sound both intimate & mellow, yet bright & bloomy when dynamically pushed. Easily track keys, acoustic guitars or percussion in this acoustically unique iso booth. We also love our Yamaha CP60M - the rare, upright counterpart to the nostalgic CP70, however it also features a MIDI keybed - easy for running audio & MIDI simultaneously. We’ve already used it in countless video shoots & recordings for that purpose! Our vintage analog synth collection is abundant & floats around the studio for various session setups, but nothing quite like our classic Roland Juno 60 and Sequential Prelude. Lastly, who doesn’t love a good toy piano like our Jaymar?

Our new studios are located in a cabin in the city! Nestled right in the Berry Hill & Melrose neighborhood, just under 5 minutes from 12 South & close to downtown Nashville. We spent 6 months renovating what was once a historic studio for nearly 40 years, where many hit country, rock & pop records were captured - from Dixie Chicks, Aerosmith, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Joe Nichols, Slayer, and many more - the sound of musical legends still echoes through the cabin walls. We hope to continue this legacy of artistry & creativity along with last decade of music we have already helped be a part of in the local Nashville music scene for many years to come. Gnome Studios was founded 10 years ago & is owned & operated by some of Nashville’s own, who deeply care about the recording process & continually work to improve the studio experience for its clients, day-in & day-out. Our new Studio A and Studio B are now open for booking, so feel free to reach out & we’d love to welcome you in for the ride! We truly believe there’s no place like Gnome. 🍄🌳

Such a vibey upright piano! We always leave a pair of condensers patched from behind the piano. We also love placing a pair of mics on the front side, usually with a pair of Coles 4038 ribbons, Beyerdynamic M160 ribbons, AKG C414’s or our Advanced Audio AA67’s!

Studio B is perfect for mixing/mastering, production & vocal overdubs! ATC SCM50ASL’s will reveal every detail & will not flatter your mix. We specifically built & designed our control room for these monitors & could not be more satisfied with the results we are getting. Pair those with Apogee Symphony HD conversion and access to high end outboard gear! Translation on par 🔥
