Meet PRIME Recording

Friends, mix engineers, and gearheads Josh Keith and Derek Garten started their careers in the famed studios of Nashville's Music Row. They cut their teeth engineering projects with acclaimed producers, artists and musicians. Music Row is legendary, but they wanted something different. In 2012, they opened PRIME Recording in the Melrose District of Berry Hill. Not just a place of their own, but the kind of studio that reflected who they were and how they wanted to make music happen.

The studio reflects their love for Nashville's musical history with mid-century furnishings, an authentic Rockola Jukebox and the kind of old school gems you never thought you'd be able to put on a record in 2019. They've worked with bands you know and bands you don't; Christian groups, pop artists, rappers, bands who sing in several langauges, artists traveling through town and locals finally recording that album they always talked about. They've worked with 20-piece choirs, major music labels, and music networks; they've engineered work for video games, music videos and television commercials.

PRIME Recording is as much a passion as it is a livelihood. That's why they keep it small. That's why PRIME Recording is a boutique recording studio in a city full of over-the-tops.
