The Tennessee Tribune The Tennessee Tribune is a legendary African American Tennessee newspaper. The publisher is the first African American female publisher in the state.

She is a Navy Veteran and retired government official who was denied funds by local Nashville banks to purchase a newspaper building yet was able to obtain funds from a Mississippi Bank with branches in Nashville. She was first to hire an integrated staff as well as journalist among Black newspapers in Tennessee. The 30 year old newspaper is the only Tennessee newspaper distributed statewide in Memphis, Jackson, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Nashville.
