The Filipino-American National News (FANN) is one of the only Filipino-American radio shows in the U.S. Central Time on KFAI-Radio, 90.3 FM Minneapolis and 106.7 FM Saint Paul. You can also listen to us online at kfai.org. Co-hosted by Alan Bungue and Ramon Hough, FANN provides a platform to discuss and hear more about Filipino news, music, community events, and important issues affecting the Fili

This season the Filipino-American National News took a leap and decided to cover the Minnesota Timberwolves on a full time basis compared to previous years.

From the start of media day to the end of the season at Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals what an enjoyable and great learning experience for myself.

So thankful to the Minnesota Timberwolves Media Relations Team of Patrick Rees, Sara Perez, Aaron Freeman & Derek Ahrnsbrak who are not only an award winning team as recognized by their peers, but always gracious with their time to both local, national & international media.

To the Fab 5 of media row I've been lucky to get to know better this season. You've made covering the team even more entertaining. , , & watching you all grind away at your craft definitely keeps me motivated step ones game up take my coverage and content to another level next year.

Can't wait to see what next season will be like maybe an NBA Championship is not as far as away as it once seem here in Minnesota.

Had the honor of having Vera Jones as a guest on the Filipino-American National News.This year on the show I wanted to highlight some of remarkable and untold stories here in Minnesota.

Vera discusses her 1st ever published book Look at the Good that chronicles her and her husband Steve journey of being parents to their 1st child Kelly who was born at 23 weeks with Cerebral Palsy. The perseverance they have a family have shown from being teen parents to now successfully realtors show great amount of strength they had when it comes to their religious faith along with each other.

The Filipino-American National News has unique platform of telling the stories of Filipinos who are originally from and descendent of the Philippine Archipelago of 7,641 Islands that call the land of 10,000 Lakes of Minnesota home.

Tonight on the show we tell our 1st such story.
We are proud to have Vera Jones to grace our airwaves. An immigration story of perseverance not only for herself, but her family and her daughter Kelly who was born with Cerebral Palsy.

Vera Jones is a first-generation immigrant who immigrated to St. Paul, Minnesota, from the Philippines in 1984. She grew up on the east side of St. Paul and has married her high school sweetheart for 25 years. Together, they've built a top-performing real estate team that helps a full range of clients, including first-time home buyers and luxury, commercial, and international transfers. She also has a blog that features home and lifestyle content called At Home With Vera. They are most proud of their special department that allows new immigrants to purchase their first home with different programs. She is one of the co-founders of the Minnesota Lumpia Festival, established last year in Champlin, MN. This event helps promote local food, entertainment, and business vendors while celebrating the love of lumpia and family. Vera recently became a first-time published author. A book titled "Look at the Good" is a personal spiritual story of her journey raising her firstborn with cerebral palsy. Her mission is to use all the gifts God has given her to help her family, friends, and community bring peace and love worldwide.

The has always tried to tell the stories of the people here that call it home. Only touch the surface of the stories we can share with our audience through our actual radio show and also via our social media platforms. As a kid growing up who loved sports it was rare you saw faces that looks similar to mine when watching. The Filipino-American National News has given me the opportunity to cover, interview and at times get to know these athletes. Anything is possible you just have to beleive in your dreams.

Was finally able to meet Alonzo Gee () who currently serves as a Basketball Operations Assistant for the Minnesota Timberwolves (). The long time nba player who played 8 seasons was initially undrafted out of the University of Alabama was a training camp free agent of the Timberwolves in 2009.

He also had a stint in the Philippine BasketballAssociation () with the Phoenix FuelMasters () where he was teammates with Shakopee native Jason Perkins ().

Hopefully in the future the can connect with him and discuss his time playing in the Philippines 🇵🇭 which he has fond memories of.

The Filipino-American National News was able to cover the return of former Minnesota Wild alternate captain defenseman Matt Dumba. Matt spent the first 10 years of his NHL career with the Wild. Matt who is born in Canada is of FIlipino & Romanian decent. He is an advocate for diversity in the sport of hockey on all levels and also host an annual camp each winter which encourages the love of hockey to youth regardless of race. The camp will be taking place on Feb 18th.

The Minneapolis Boat Show is taking place from January 18-21 at the Minneapolis Convention Center offical. A Filipina representative of the public relations firm reached out to me to gauge the interest of the the Filipino-American community here in Minnesota. I know there are alot of Filipinos that enjoy cruising around one of the 10,000 lakes of Minnesota and also love to fish. Is this an event you frequent each year? What is the fisherman scene here amongst Filipinos?

The Filipino-American National News was in attendance for the Houston Rockets vs Minnesota Timberwolves game. Part of Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green ethnic makeup is of Filipino decent. I was able to speak with Jalen Green post game to ask him a few questions before he had to board the team bus.

The Filipino-American National News had as a guest University of Minnesota Men's Basketball Team Co-Captain Taurus Samuels. A grad transfer from Dartmouth College talks about his journey as a student/athlete growing up Oceanside, CA, the emphasis of education on his life, what lead him to the University of Minnesota & much much more.

Singer songwriter AJ Rafael was in the Twin Cities to as part of the Be the Watch event for #worldmarrowdonorday at the Mall of America on Saturday September 17th. He performed about a 30-40 min set and this clip is of his last song for the afternoon. The FANN hopes to connect with AJ in the near future and talk about why it is especially important for Filipino & Asian Americans to be part of the bone marrow registry along with his career.
