We know many of you have questions surrounding the death of Alice Dobmeier, and we understand. When we share information, we must balance the needs of not only a concerned community, but also an active investigation and a grieving family.

For the purpose of dispelling misinformation, we can tell you our investigation has determined…
• Ms. Dobmeier was alone when she checked into a local hotel the evening of Sunday, March 3 and was alone when she checked out of the hotel the afternoon of Monday, March 4.
• She used a ride service to get from the hotel to Walmart south where she purchased liquor and medication.

UPDATE 3/16/2024 3:15 p.m.
We want to extend our sympathies to the loved ones of Alice Dobmeier once again as we share this update.

The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the body found yesterday to be Ms. Dobmeier and has confirmed there were no signs of trauma.

Rochester Police Department seeks to connect people who are struggling with support though our community outreach specialist program, the Drug and Alcohol Response Team (DART), and the Police Assisted Recovery (PAR) program.

------

Investigators searching for a missing woman discovered a woman’s body in southeast Rochester late this afternoon.

Police and Fire crews recovered the body from approximately 80 yards inside a culvert by a retention pond off of 25th St. SE east of Broadway Avenue South.

Items belonging to 34-year-old Alice Dobmeier, who was reported missing on March 6, were located next to the body. The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is working to make a formal identification and determine the cause and manner of death.

Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, there is no indication of foul play, and upon discovery of the body, there were no immediate signs of trauma. There is no known threat to the community.

Chief Jim Franklin shares, “This is not the outcome any of us wanted. We extend our sincere condolences to Ms. Dobmeier’s family and friends.”
