While I'm waiting to replace the main turntable in the main room, I've just got a be**er set up out here that both my daughter and I are making a mess with. I love it.

It's been a bittersweet drive, but gratifying to hear nice words from friends, donors and appreciators over the last 14 days.

All ready to set off the All-American Alarm Clock this Tuesday at 10am Central. Dan Geiger and Kate from will be in Studio 4 talking about the glory days of children's radio and the importance of media access and training at all ages during the homestretch of the KFAI - Fresh Air Community Radio member drive.

AAHS was an important radio outlet to me all the way up to my teens, when I'd check in on it between moody alt rock and all the other stuff. The mid-90s Telecommunications Act helped let the same behemoths that felled REV 105 to take out AAHS and left only the real independent to pick up the slack.

But Tuesday won't be all about that. This is gonna be a goofy show and you won't want to miss it.

Continuing on the public access and TV detritus path, I for some reason would always watch the full half hour of "Ralph Paul's Secrets To Playing Great Guitar Now" infomercial every time it would pop up. It's not as though it ever changed. It was always this guy showing a receptive host how to fake your way though musical styles, including "a more modern sound" where someone off-stage adds the worst distortion possible to his magic guitar.

I thought for sure that Ralph Paul rebranded himself as Spanish guitar maestro Esteban later, but Wikipedia tells me they're not the same... if the Internet is to be believed.

Anyway, this is the kind of crap that'll pop up during and between the music videos at Dusty's this Friday. It'll be the most accurate of my 90s Friday night I've ever put on. Come hang out with me at 10 while I got the remote.
