NYC-based vocalist Richard Cortez found The Great American Songbook at a young age, but has only recently started performing, and now has a debut album, Mood Swings, coming out on Oct. 25.

His journey to jazz singing is engaging and is interwoven with his identity as a gay man in a predominantly straight jazz world. Host Peter Solomon caught up with Richard to discuss his activism, his path to jazz, and the new record, and you can find that conversation archived at www.jazz88.fm.
