Fishing Report for August 23, 2024

Delaware Bay fishing was good last week as trout, kings and croaker were caught at Bowers Beach, Woodland Beach and the Upper Bay reef sites. Slot striped bass, white perch and catfish were caught in the tidal creeks. A citation size white perch was caught at Augustine Beach. Kings, croaker and spot were caught at Broadkill Beach while the Broadkill River produced a few flounder.

The Cape Henlopen State Park Fishing Pier action remains good for spot, kings and croaker. Boats fishing the Outer Wall caught a few sheepshead and many short tog.

The Indian River Inlet is still producing big bluefish and striped bass if you are there at the right times. Flounder fishing in the Inland Bays was pretty good.

The rough surf from the offshore hurricane made the surf unproductive.

Flounder fishing was poor in the Inshore Ocean as the offshore hurricane stirred up the water. Those fishing the Offshore Ocean caught tuna and tilefish.

In freshwater, bass fishing was still decent at Lums Pond, Garrisons Lake, Silver Lake Dover and Killens Pond. Snakeheads and catfish were caught in the Nanticoke.

Check your boat trailer lights.

Prayers for my dad, been a long roller coaster. In hospital since June 25th. Last week made it to rehab for a few days to be sent back to hospital because he was vomiting blood for 2 days. Today waiting, should be taking him down for surgery. While doing that, Gallbladder will be removed, lining of stomach removed. This surgery will have a high risk and a very long recovery. Safe travels for my 2 other brothers and family flying in today. We love you Dad.

Fishing Report for May 23, 2024

In the Delaware Bay, bluefish and black drum action remained good for another week. Drum were caught at Broadkill Beach and the Coral Beds while big bluefish were caught from Broadkill Beach to the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park. The big striped bass were mostly absent but small stripers, white perch and catfish were caught from shore from Augustine down to Woodland Beach and in the tidal tribs.

The Indian River Inlet had big blues and a few big striped bass, while big blues were still being caught in Masseys Ditch.

The surf also produced some big blues. The Inshore Ocean structure produced good numbers of black sea bass for the boats that made it out there.

Freshwater saw good largemouth bass fishing on many ponds, with another nice citation bass caught in Silver Lake Dover.

Leave the small weakfish alone.
