Scam Alert:

The Merced County Office of Emergency Services has received reports of individuals impersonating FEMA representatives in the Planada area. These individuals are attempting to gain access to homes in the area, claiming they need to conduct inspections.

Please note—FEMA is not currently going door-to-door in Planada. When FEMA representatives visit homes or businesses after a natural disaster, they will carry official identification with a name, photo, and possibly an ID number.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.

Do you want to learn about the MPD’s officers, training, use of force, patrol procedures, and internal investigations? Are you interested in doing a ride along with an officer or going to the MPD firing range and much more?

Join our Community Academy starting Oct 2, 2024! This is a FREE 10-week program on Wednesdays from 6 pm-9 pm and one Saturday. There will be one week off during Thanksgiving. The program will end in December right before Christmas.

Topics include recruitment and training of officers, communication center, crime analysis, patrol procedures, investigations, internal affairs, tactical communication, force continuum, use of force, gang violence suppression unit, fi****ms, bomb team, K9, critical incident response, code enforcement, disruptive area response team, SWAT, animal control, traffic, parking, drones, crime scene response, along with other topics.

Then our Science and Engineering Academy is the perfect adventure for them! Starting September 9th, 2024, join us at Kids Discovery Station for an exciting series of interactive sessions designed to ignite curiosity and foster a love of science and engineering. 🤖

We have several different times and days available for sign-ups to accommodate as many kiddos as possible. Please pick the day and time that fits your schedule best and make sure to only sign up for one slot since all days will have the same curriculum. 📅
