Future of Print Project

Future of Print Project The Future of Print Project seeks to document and understand the many ways that print continues to be important in the 21st Century.

Print serves many functions in American society. We look to it as information-seekers to solve instrumental problems. We find comfort in the continuity of periodicals, from the daily newspaper to the monthly comic book. In poetry, literature and art, it compels our imaginations and evokes the full breadth of our emotions. At its best, print engages the head, becomes ubiquitous as a habit, and moti

vates the heart. But how will print change over the coming decades? Under the guiding hand of James P. Danky, co-founder of the Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture, in conjunction with Hewlett-Packard (HP), an information hardware, software and services firm with a long history of working and innovating on the boundaries between both the printed and digital worlds, the Future of Print Project seeks to explore this question. Through mediums of many different types, including a documentary and a forthcoming book, along with forms of new media, the Center looks to engage with users, scholars and industry professionals from across disciplines to better answer the question: what is the future of print?
