In our August 8th issue, hitting newsstands now, Africa Fest will return to McPike Park on August 20th. The African Center for Community Development took students to Milwaukee’s Black Holocaust Museum. Dr. Damira Grady is Madison College’s new Vice-President of Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement. The Black Chamber of Commerce is bringing its A-Game to the 7th Annual Madison Black Restaurant Week featuring restaurants like David’s Jamaican Cuisine. The 2022 African Graduation Celebration at Madison College with Judge Nia Trammell as the keynote speaker and the African Community Picnic was also a hit. Blacks for Political and Social Action, Inc., (BPSADC) is a Political Action Committee (PAC) committed to the advancement of economic and social justice for Black citizens in Dane County. We are charged with the responsibility of advancing diversity, inclusion, equity and justice in sectors that adversely impact Black citizens.

The Brothers Size is opening at the American Players Theater. Hamilton opens at Overture Center on August 9th. Bram Street was given the Honorary title of Willie Lou Harris Way. The Boys & Girls Club celebrated MOVE4BGC’s 20th Anniversary. The Urban League held its Unity Picnic at the Southwest Madison Training Center on July 16th. Annette Miller celebrates five years of EQT by Design. The Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society’s Chamber Music Festival will feature the ragtime music of the New England Ragtime Ensemble. Good Afternoon Everyone,
In our 48-page Graduation issue hitting newsstands today, we celebrate graduation with Christeena Jojo and other graduates from UW-Madison, Madison College and Edgewood College. Our Hues Row of Excellence featuring graduating seniors of color with at least a cumulative 3-0 GPA has ballooned to over 350 Dane County students. We were able to cover the UW-Madison CAE and Odyssey Graduation celebrations. Plus we highlight the scholarship recipients from the Divine Nine fraternities and sororities plus Women in Focus and The Madison Metropolitan Chapter of The Links. Plus we have stories on the plays about The Temptations and Paul Robeson that are coming to town. There is a lot to celebrate. These are just some of the stories in Your Capital City Hues.

In our APIDA/AAPI Heritage Month issue, Peng Her is running for Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor. Kim Santiago is an internationalist at heart. Dane County Supervisor Yogesh Chawla is concerned about water quality issues and reflects on the stalled jail project. Sun Prairie Assistant Chief Shunta Boston blends her street and police experience in a unique form of community policing. The Latino Chamber of Commerce and LOUD hosted the 8th Annual Latino Art Fair at Overture. Madison College held its first Pow Wow in three years. These are just some of the stories we are working on.

In our April 18th issue, Mother Lena Mae Perry and the Branchettes performed after Stay Prayed Up, a documentary shown at the Wisconsin Film Festival. The Urban League of Greater Madison broke ground on its Black Business Hub. Meet the 2022 YWCA Women of Distinction. The Latino Art Fair will feature visual artists and a performance by Dinorah Marquez and the Latino Arts Mariachi Juvenile. OMAI and First Wave held the Line Breaks Hip Hop Theater Festival at Overture. These are just some of the stories in Your Capital City Hues.
