The Morton Arboretum, in Lisle, Illinois, United States, is a public garden, and outdoor museum with a library, herbarium, and program in tree research including the Center for Tree Science.
They often hold exhibits with beautiful artistic sculptures connecting people with the love of nature and art.
These are some of the inspiring and beautiful sculptures from the past exhibit, "Troll Hunt" by Thomas Dambo and current exhibit Human+Nature by Daniel Popper.

I’ve lived in my current place in Central Oregon for 7 years and never bothered to garden because my job was too demanding in the summers. I changed jobs in January and asked my landlady if I could take over her unused and very neglected garden plot this year. I started clearing the space in mid May and planted first veggie starts June 5th. My landlady is so pleased with the transformation that she is having a new roof put on the greenhouse for my use. I am extremely happy with the garden considering I’ve only ever gardened in zone 9 in CA and this is zone 5. Even with the crazy weather this year (frost in late May and at least 3 weeks of 95-110 temps), things are thriving.

Around some of my yard ... Every plant, tree, bush, flower, I have planted myself during the 46 years we have lived here. Wish I had pictures of what it looked like when we bought it in 1976. There was so much to do... Yard and house so very negleted and yet sturdy foundation. Just needed some t.l.c. which it has slowly gotten over the years. We were 23 years old when we bought this run down property, with two very young daughters. Now we are almost 70 years old, retired, and grandparents of 5 grown grandchildren. Our lives and theirs lived in and on this property. My home.... Nothing fancy but all about LOVE and it belongs to us. 💕

The first picture is my house in December, 2018, two months after I bought it. The next picture is now, after I dug the entire front yard out and made it a garden. Took 2019 and a lot of 2020 to dig it out and plant it because I am somewhat older now. The rest are pictures of the garden.

Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself and share a photo I took, this is the first time I have ever grown zinnias! I planted these in a small pot as I had got the seeds for free at a wildflower festival we had went to! When I planted my garden I decided I would plant them in the middle to attract bees and butterflies and whatever else liked them! I had no idea they would grow to be over 8 ft tall!

So I've started. A little bit each day. ( when the weather has been kind ) This is going to be a tribute to my Mum as she was the one who inspired me to garden. I've chucked loads of seeds down, as love to see bees and butterflies. Already have a resident blackbird that loves the lawn. So tomorrow I'm going to get a feeder and bird bath. * note that I am absolutely exhausted now, I don't have much strength in my right leg - so used my upper body strength to dig. Here's hoping we have a break from the rain!

This is my ANTI DIY project.
For 28 years my ex kept me from having a nice new kitchen, so I got rid of him and bought myself a kitchen 😜
Miley’s got that right…. “I can buy myself kitchens”
Edit: for everyone gasping that I closed the windows… the old windows literally looked out to a garage 4.5 feet away. Since the kitchen is set higher you literally were looking at roofing shingle, dirty gutters and a wall of a garage. The window was relocated to an adjacent wall overlooking my backyard. Pics added
Still need to get some new rugs, blinds, and change out some Small touches

My husband built me a raised garden bed out of recycled pallets! 🥰 Not sure what I’m going to plant just yet. I’m so excited. 😁
*Not 100% finished and it was his first go at building one. So, if you have a rude comment, please write it down on a piece of paper, fold it up, bend over and SHOVE IT. 🤭*
*ETA: We will be adding holes 🕳️ for drainage. 😊

What is happening? My neighbor has had this pot in front of her house for several years and she never used it. I finally asked her if she wanted to get rid of it and she gave it to me for free. She said someone gave it to her as a gift with flowers in it and she didn't want it to begin with. Here I am thinking it'll be perfect for my bird of paradise to be transplanted into and I dump the dirt out only to find this. 🤦‍♀️

I don’t know if this could inspire anybody or not, but my friend and I were talking about how I wanted to build a greenhouse and she walked me to hers to show me and y’all. 🤯 I never in a million years would have thought of using an old cast iron stove to heat it but she said on the really cold nights, they will just light a fire in the stove and it keeps the greenhouse warm enough where she’s growing tomatoes, lettuce, broccoli, etc. Double layers of greenhouse film. She said she keeps the tomatoes closest to the stove (front left) since they have to stay the warmest. Her greenhouse makes me feel like we too can accomplish this seemingly daunting task that I’ve been putting off for two years. Zone 7B, Alabama. 💚
Editing to add, she also raises honeybees and in the summer rolls up the sides and the honeybees and butterflies find their way in to pollinate. There is a bed of wildflowers on the outside. 🥹🥹 so jealous! 🐝🩷

Per your request here are photo's of the build around our 30 foot round, 54" deep, buried 2 feet in the ground. We did the concrete patio last year and this spring we did the 2 X 4 Split Stone Travertine on sides of pool and Travertine tile on top. Yes it's real stone. Yes you can sit on it, stand on it and walk on it.
As you can see from the photo's, there is a gap between the pool and the edge of the concrete patio. Done intentionally. Probably 4 inches from post to concrete patio and 7 or 8 inches from wall of pool to concrete patio.
The concrete patio closest to pool perimeter was poured 12 inches deep about 8 inches wide around the entire pool to do a footing for the rebar to be attached for the cinder blocks think (4 x 12 blocks) filled with concrete. The rest of the patio was poured 6" deep. We ended up with extra concrete.
Between pool wall and blocks it was filled with chip gravel just over the height of patio not all the way up side of pool.
The metal rim you see along the edge was removed and a White J Hook was applied for a future Hang Bead Liner when were ready to replace this liner. A Hang Bead Liner allows you to hang it on the J hook without removing your caps and top of pool. In my case tile. (See photo along inside of the pool edge. That's a J hook) After they applied the J hook over exhisting liner they put metal rail back over it.
Someone asked what if your pool rusts. We have that gap so there is room to work to replace pool. I also am playing with the idea if I ever get to that point. I may have the same company come back and just pour a concrete pool. (To fit inside all this stonework) Or not lol. I actually think vinyl liners are easier than concrete to keep clean. Algae gets in crevices. Whatever way I go, I think I'd still want vinyl lined.
I have a picture where we had our origional above ground pool removed with decking still in place. There is dirt all over my vermiculite concrete bottom. Origional pool I paid for the installers wanted me to rip out

If you see me in your garden, please give me food (raw, unsalted meat or ground meat; I also like cat food but not fish) and water. Do not give me milk as it causes stomach problems and I could die from dehydration. I am naive, and if I see milk, I will drink it.
Do not give me milk!
Do not use insecticides or traps. I am harmless and beneficial for your garden because I feed on insects that attack vegetables.
My species is endangered, please help me stay alive.

To any of my gardening peeps who are tired of dragging a heavy hose around to water and saying the F word 29 times because it kinks amd catches on things, listen up.. I bought this stainless steel hose from Amazon, 100 ft. For $50. It is absolutely fabulous. It is light, doesn't kink, just slides along behind me. We'll worth giving up the rubber hose..

THANK YOU everyone for your prayers, well wishes and concerns about me and my plants during Hurricane Ian. In my haste yesterday when I posted a few pictures I forgot to mention I took those pictures on Sunday BEFORE I put every potted plant (and “Nick“ my garden gnome) inside the covered part of the lanai behind the roll down shutters made with a teflon product safe for wind speeds up to 200 mph. Ian is now a Cat 4 at 140 mph so they should be safe. I moved the front door plants into our garage. You are a fantastic, wonderful group of people and I appreciate you dearly. My husband and I are in our comfy, cozy humble abode surrounded by my house plants and neighbors on both sides. We have plenty of food and water. Ian is not our first hurricane. We lived in this same house during Irma in 2017, but Ian is already much worse. Thank you for your prayers. Please keep them coming. And now we wait.

My 20 year old daughter wanted to have a go at decking as she likes to keep busy .she built the frame then put loads of supports in between. Took her 3 days to build and paint it cost £500 and was quoted almost 2k for a company to do. It's solid hardly any movement when walking on it. She's brilliant she will have a go at anything

Hello all. This is my basil and herb garden. I want to share a tip with everyone. I am feeding them with banana peel water. Take 2 banana peels and soak overnight in a gallon of water. Water your plants with the banana peel water. It's full of potassium and more. You can use it on veggies, flowers, herbs. Does not need to be refrigerated. I keep a jug going all the time and keep adding water as I use it up. I also throw in peels as I eat them. The peels turn brown and you can discard them after you've added more peels. It's a great organic fertilizer. This is good on veggies, herbs, flowers and tomatoes. I am using it on my green pepper too. My spearmint plant is huge as well and so is my dill is waist high. I have tons of green cherry tomatoes and beautiful green peppers.
