UPDATE: Lexington Police reported that one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting at West Short and North Upper Street on Thursday near the Lexington Fourth of July parade.
Police detailed that at around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, a man approached an officer to report the he had been shot in a vehicle near Fourth Street and Upper Street.

BREAKING: Crews battled a large fire at an apartment complex in Lexington on Monday afternoon.
Lexington Fire Department responded to the fire around 5:22 p.m. at the Veridian Apartments at 2020 Armstrong Mill Road. The fire was reported to be on the third floor of building 20.
When crews arrived, they found the fire on a balcony extending into the attic. Crews were able to knock down a good portion and the fire is now under control. LFD says they will potentially remain on scene through the night in case of any hot spots.
Residents will be displaced in at least nine apartments.
Crews will continue to assess the damage and determine if electricity can be restored soon.

TRAGIC: A four-wheeler crash on Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of 13-year-old Caleb Morgan. His sister Brooke Brummett was at work when she got a message from her sister-in-law about the accident.
“He was my brother. He was my baby,” Brummett expressed. “He was 13. He was just a fun, bubbly, outgoing little dude…I really don’t know how life is going to be without him.”
