Numerous severe thunderstorms are in the vicinity. These storms contain 60mph winds, quarter sized hail and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
North Central Blount County in east Tennessee...
Southeastern Knox County in east Tennessee...
West Central Sevier County in east Tennessee...

* Until 1:30 AM EDT.

* At 9:17 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in the past hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Knoxville, Alcoa, Louisville, Rockford, Lake Forest, Seymour and Kimberlin Heights.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Western Claiborne County in east Tennessee...
Northeastern Campbell County in east Tennessee...
Northeastern Union County in east Tennessee...

* Until 845 PM EDT.

* At 754 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Wilkerson, or
14 miles southeast of Williamsburg, moving southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Harrogate, Jellico, Cumberland Gap, Arthur, Clairfield, White Oak,
and Sharps Chapel.

This includes Interstate 75 in Tennessee between mile markers 158 and
161.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

***A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN SULLIVAN,
SOUTHWESTERN JOHNSON, AND NORTHERN CARTER COUNTIES THROUGH 3:00 PM EDT***

At 2:19 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles south of Bristol, moving southeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Bristol, TN , Elizabethton, Bluff City, Hunter, Morril's Cave, Doeville, Neva, Sadie, and Elk Mills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

10:55pm EDT: Radar is quiet at the moment with some scattered showers on our doorstep. Clouds continue to increase tonight with increasing rain chances into Wednesday. Cooler Wednesday with Isolated showers and t-storms possible. There could be an isolated strong storm. Not expecting a total washout. Highs forecasted to be in the mid to upper 70s.

A Strong Thunderstorm will impact portions of Northeastern Johnson County thru 3pm EDT. Heavy rain, lightning, small hail, and flash flooding are possible.

All modes of severe weather are possible, with the main risks of damaging winds in excess of 65mph, a tornado or two, and flash flooding.

STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE TUESDAY:

A strong storm system will move into the area on Tuesday, bringing the potential for severe weather. All modes of severe weather are possible, although damaging winds in excess of 60mph are the primary threat.

Timing at this time seems to be 4pm-10pm EDT Tuesday.

Details are likely to change. Another update will come tomorrow evening.

UPDATE: Our area has been highlighted for a heightened risk of severe weather for this coming Tuesday (4/2). At this time, it's too early to suggest what time of day and exactly what hazards will be possible with this system.

More information should come through this weekend.

Northwestern Claiborne County in east Tennessee... * Until 3:45 AM EDT. * At 12:47 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Clairfield. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
