Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, the day that commemorates the last slaves receiving word from Union troops in June 1866 about the abolishment of slavery one year earlier. We should never forget that the abolishment of slavery isn’t just black history but American history. In the words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Because the goal of America is freedom, abused and scorned tho’ we may be, our destiny is tied up with America’s destiny.”

Once again, our amazing animation team supporting the mission brings home some hardware! Congratulations on winning the Silver Telly award for Craft Use of 3D Animation during the Artemis Launch and the Bronze Telly award for Craft Use of Interactivity used in the Moonboard during the Artemis broadcast. Absolutely fantastic work!

A wide variety of Media Fusion team members supported the recent Artemis I launch. Our animation team at the Media Fusion studio created an amazing animation that was shown throughout the mission. We'd like to congratulate all the Media Fusion team members who were involved in our work in support of NASA's Artemis I launch. Congratulations on the high achievement!

We would like to congratulate two of our Media Fusion team members for winning awards at this year's NASA Imagery Experts Group annual meeting. NASA Langley Videographer Rob Lorkiewicz on the Lamps2 contract won three NASA Videographer of the year awards. Eric Borderlon, a photographer for MFI subcontractor Aeyon, won for documentary photography. Just another example of the award winning work happening at Media Fusion!

I mission complete! NASA’s Orion Spacecraft splashed down off the coast of California concluding the first mission to the Moon. The data from this flight test of SLS and Orion is preparing us for future flights, to send humans to the Moon and beyond!

"There was a particular video I watched of SLS launching, and it looked like the sun rising into the sky - the sun rising on a new generation," said John Honeycutt, SLS program manager. "We are not resting. Artemis II is in the works, and we have got many more rockets in flow across the country."

Media Fusion photographer, Mark Knopp, had the opportunity to be a guest lecturer at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Mark spoke with two different classes. During the Introduction to Photography class, he talked about several potential career paths at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, showed some of his photographic work and talked about life as a NASA photographer. For the Lighting class, he spoke about lighting challenges and solutions faced on a daily basis when performing his job. Both lectures ended with a Q&A session followed by hands-on photography demonstrations held outside as well as in ODU’s photo studio.
