There will be a news conference at 4pm Wednesday concerning the fate of the Sycamore tree.....it was spared today...but not sure for how much longer...

Normally I stay out of the politics of how the village runs its business...but from what I have heard... "save the 240 year old Sycamore tree" is more than just preserving one old tree. There are issues concerning "safety" because limbs have fallen in the past, damaging firehouse and Ketcham motor property, and there are issues concerning expansion, parking and a whole lot of he said, who said, rumors, myths and lies. Whatever direction this saga goes, there are going to be a lot of pi**ed off residents and business owners in the Village of Fishkill.

There is a new Pet Food Pantry and Thrift store that has just opened at 448 Rt. 376 Hopewell Junction...for people who are really struggling financially to not only keep, but feed their pets. Pet food pantry open Saturdays only... also there is a thrift store open at the same location, Tues, Thurs., Sat. and Sun., and they are looking for donations of pet food and items to sell in the store...845-656-4168 or [email protected]. There might be a cute lil kitty in Sally the Australian Cattle dogs future...the SPCA is OVERRUN with cats right now...there are at least 450 homeless cats and kittens stuffed at the shelter in Hyde Park...all donations are really needed...if you adopt a cat over age 3...the the DCSPCA will waive the adoption fee! A new thrift shop and pet food pantry (Safe Haven Animal Shelter and Wildlife Center) will be opening sometime this month at 448 Rt. 376 in Hopewell Junction...they are currently having a pet food drive during the month of November...all donations will be distributed to local food pantries...drop off locations are Pet Supplies Plus in the Shoprite Plaza, Blue Seal, Rt. 52 Fishkill, East Fishkill Library, Earth Angels Vet, 8 Nancy Court Wappingers.

This Saturday nite: there will be a "Goods and Services Auction" at the Knights of Columbus, Townsend Hall, in Beacon...all proceeds of auction go to help the animals at Mid Hudson Animal Aid and Cat Sanctuary in Beacon...$12.00 at the door includes finger foods and desserts...preview at 5:30..auction at 7pm. On Friday, watch out for the kids trick or treating on Main Street in Fishkill...about 600 kids will be going door to door getting candy from local businesses....really 600 kids...I hope the school is prepared for out of control children bouncing off the walls from all of the sugar they are going to consume...so much for the problem of child obesity which is out of control in this country....give em candy!

OK Fishkill people...I am back from the beach...upcoming events this weekend: Stormville Flea Market Saturday and Sunday....as if my house isn't loaded enough..oh Fishkill News will be a bit late this October...but will be out shortly...and I have exciting news...HOME AGAIN..my old antiques store at 1072 Main Street Fishkill will be reopening this month as....HOME AGAIN STUDIO!! Deep down I am a frustrated artist and I needed to create an outlet for my creativity...more info coming soon...look for my creations here on facebook! Hope you like it!!

Sad news...my best friend mad max ..the australian cattle dog...had to be put down yesterday. cancer is a horrible thing..i miss him terribly...and so does my other aussie sally squeak...

This Sunday, is the 18th Annual Craft Fair in the Village of Fishkill..this year instead of lining up on Main Street, it will be held in the CVS parking lot...Fishkill Village Square Plaza, 986 Main St...from 11am-4pm rain or shine...real craftspeople only..food and music too!

The summer issue of Fishkill News will be out next week...meanwhile...I am getting packed to go to Maine to work, and fix up my beach house...this year my goal is to put up a new fence to keep Mad Max and Sally from terrorizing all of my neighbors bbqs.
