George Mason University has come a long way since 1996--it has expanded across four campuses, transformed from a commuter school to one that is predominately residential and earned national recognition following a startling NCAA Final Four run. A key player in the university's success has been its president, Alan G. As his 16-year term comes to an end this June, Merten is leaving an indelible mark
