The county has an unemployment rate of 4.3 percent, up from 3.4 percent last year. Firefighters are fully suppressing the 100-plus acre Grassy Mountain Fire burning in pinyon-pine, juniper, brush and grass on public lands west of Pony Springs, about 30 miles north of Pioche, Nev. Ground resources fighting the fire are one Type 1 hand crew and one Type 2 Initial Attack hand crew, four engines, two bulldozers and two water tenders. A Type 3 helicopter and multiple heavy and Single Engine Air Tankers are providing aerial support. The lightning-ignited fire was first reported shortly after 2:30 p.m., today (Wednesday).
