football season began with a thriller on the West Side, with Coronado
edging Canutillo, 28-21. Meanwhile, Del Valle got off to an impressive start with a 35-6 victory over Socorro.

Coronado's Cole Freytag leaps over a Canutillo defender during the T-Birds' game-winning drive on Thursday night. Freytag scored a couple plays later to lift Coronado, 28-21. Good game.

Teams that participated in spring ball began practice today, and El Paso Varsity magazine is just about ready to go to the printer. Visited with Irvin and coach Cliff Olander today. District 1-4A could be a wild one this year.
