It is with great sadness to announce the untimely passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Scott Sanders on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Scott’s unexpected death yesterday is a shock that leaves our hearts heavy with mourning and empathy to his loved ones.

Scott was an incredible husband, father, friend, and an exceptional physician assistant that was dedicated to excelling in each. One of his greatest joys in his work was to see the patients come out of his doors better than they came in. He took great care to get to know his patients and their stories. The countless patients under Scott’s care throughout the years exclaim how his pleasant and professional demeanor gave them comfort and relief. While our practice and the Statesboro community are without such an incredible colleague, our hearts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City forecast that
Tropical moisture remains in place over the region today, and it may combine with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms to produce a localized flooding threat. Most of northern and central Georgia has a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 4) for excessive rainfall today, but far eastern Georgia is under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for flash flooding. The highest flood risk is expected between 5 PM and 10 PM, though a lesser risk will be with us throughout the day.

WHAT:
Thunderstorms may produce rain rates as high as 2-3" per hour.
Isolated rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches (most likely in eastern Georgia.)
Saturated soils will increase the risk for flash flooding in eastern Georgia.

WHEN:
Through midnight tonight, with the flash flooding risk peaking between 5 PM and 10 PM.

WHERE:
There is a small risk of heavy rain leading to flooding in the north Georgia mountains before 11 AM today.
Elevated flash flood risk in northeast/east central Georgia, mainly between 5 PM and 10 PM.

IMPACTS:
Heavy rainfall leading to localized flash flooding, especially in areas subject to rapid runoff.
Isolated river/stream flooding may occur.
Frequent lightning and isolated wind gusts of 40 mph or greater.
