Save the date: Friday, November 17th, The Marshall Tucker Band, accompanied by the legendary Wet Willie, is returning to their musical roots at the Macon City Auditorium!

The connection between Macon, Wet Willie, and The Marshall Tucker Band dates back to the 1970s. The MTB graced the stage at Grant's Lounge, Macon, GA thanks to a suggestion from Wet Willie's Jimmy Hall. It was here that Paul Hornsby heard the band, got them into the studio for demo recordings, and, after hearing those demos, Capricorn Sound Studios and Museum's Phil Walden swiftly signed the band.

UPDATE on August 30th at 6:45 PM: Our Transportation and Maintenance Departments have been monitoring road conditions across Dublin now that the brunt of Hurricane Idalia’s impact is behind us.

Based on their results and following the recommendation of Laurens County EMA, we wanted to confirm that Dublin City Schools will be operating under its normal schedule tomorrow, Thursday, August 31st.

Should there be any changes, they will be communicated through Remind, Dublin City School’s website, district social media channels, and shared with local media partners.

UPDATE on August 29th @ 4:15 PM: At this time, Georgia Emergency Management anticipates strong winds and heavy rain hitting our area at the same time bus drivers and high school drivers would be on the road.

Therefore, following the recommendation of Laurens County EMA, Dublin City Schools will be closed for all students tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30th. All games, practices, and extracurricular activities scheduled for tomorrow have also been canceled.

Staff can work from home tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30th.

At this time, we anticipate returning to school on the morning of Thursday, August 31st. Meanwhile, our team will continue to monitor Hurricane Idalia’s movement. Should there be any further changes or delays, they will be communicated through Remind, Dublin City School’s website, district social media channels, and shared with local media partners.

Fighting Irish Family, please stay safe and remain vigilant.
