It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted here, but it’s time to start talking again. Much loss (both parents) but much gain (two grandchildren) has consumed me. The fact that those are mathematically equal is not lost on me, but I’m still squarely in the middle of grief and joy. This is one of the hardest places to navigate, and quite frankly I’m well past the age most people experience this. My parents lived into their 90s and my grandchildren were born after I was halfway through my 60s. Life is funny, but my joys outweigh my sorrows, and I think that is ultimately what keeps us young at heart. How about you? Are you navigating between joy and sorrow? Or some other set of opposites? As my mother used to remind me, we just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving. Here’s to the journey, even as messy as it is sometimes!
