The long-awaited Tell ‘Em debut from Columbia noise project Trivia Night has arrived. “I’ll See You in Hell, My Friend” is 36 minutes of blistering “hi-fi noise,” as project mastermind Mark Medley so aptly put it. This is one of Trivia Night’s iconic knife sets (just imagine using kitchen cutlery as your turntable stylus) captured through boutique tube pre-amps by Ben Severns at 206 Ruby and mastered by Eric Hemmann. We’re proud to be releasing this uncompromising piece of art in a limited run of 100 cassettes, professionally duplicated at National Audio Company. We have handful in stock on our website, and Hitt Records will soon have a few for sale in Columbia.

Self Hug - “Demos” (TEISTS030) // We’re stoked to launch these amazing Self Hug demos into the analog realm for our 30th Tell ‘Em release. A blast of '90s inspired rock from one of Como's best new bands. From the Sabbathian stomp of "Revolver" to the pensive closing track "For the Time Being," Self Hug ensnare you in their sonic embrace. Six addictive hit-and-run jams.

Limited first run of 25 copies, professionally duplicated at National Audio Company. Pick one up on our website or direct from Self Hug tomorrow night at the PDM show with Good Morning Midnight and Ripped Genes.

Marble Faun - “Synthetic Afterlife” (TEISTS029) // We’re proud to present Marble Faun’s opus Synthetic Afterlife in the analog medium, arriving next Friday, 10/29. Limited to 50 cassettes professionally duplicated by National Audio Company. Pre-order available via Marble Faun's Bandcamp — tape release and listening party at Hitt Records at 8 p.m. next Friday (10/29): https://marble-faun.bandcamp.com/album/synthetic-afterlife

Dark New Age? Sinister Fripp & Eno? These are some of the off-hand descriptors we’ve used to describe this uncompromising music from the Columbia duo Marble Faun, originally released digitally in 2020. Analog and digital synthesizers collide with acoustic instrumentation and human voice: Trust us when we say that the results sounds glorious on NAC’s new tape oxide.

“One of our intentions was to make each song it's own immersive world full of textures and visions," say the artists’ in their own words.

To celebrate the tape release, Marble Faun have also offered up a bonus track from the Synthetic Afterlife sessions on their Bandcamp. Head over to their page to check it out and pick up the tape.

Devin Frank - “Cathedral” (TEISTS028) // Out this Friday via Tell 'Em Tapes! It's an honor to have Devin's music on the label, and this latest album might be our favorite of his recent instrumental works. Tapes are limited to 50 copies and can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp. A handful of copies will also be available at Hitt Records on 9/17.

In Devin's own words, Cathedral is a "non-verbal memoir of 12- and 6-string guitar-dominant, but not exclusive, 21st century folk futurism."

"These songs were composed spontaneously as they were being recorded, but are structurally well-behaved," he continued. "They serve as continued refinements of the styles, sounds, and home-recorded experiments that I began working on over a decade ago. Stylistically, I cannot say what they are, but undoubtedly they channel my love of oldies radio, 1960s American minimalism, cosmic German progressive music, aleatoric music, fingerstyle guitar, and the psych, post-rock, and lo-fi music of the 90s. It is my hope that from this stew something recognizable but new and beautiful has formed."

All songs were recorded to 4-track cassette between 2018-2020 in Champaign and then Urbana, IL. They were later mixed and mastered by Matt Wenzel (Van Brocklyn, The Falbonauts) at Shangri-Nah Studio in Urbana.
