A few weeks ago, we had the honor of celebrating 50 years of West End Neighborhood Development by honoring a few of our neighborhood pioneers at our 50th anniversary celebration. We'd like to highlight Kathi Woodcock for the Commitment to Preservation & History award:

Mentorship in Preservation: Handy Johnson welcomed Kathi to the Preservation Committee, sharing foundational knowledge that strengthened the committee’s efforts.

Model Preservation Program: Collaborated with Tigist Slaton to develop West End’s Preservation Committee into a model program, recognized by the Urban Design Commission as an example for new historic districts to emulate.

Commitment to Leadership: Maintained leadership as chair/co-chair of the Preservation Committee for over a decade, fostering continuity and dedication to historic preservation in the West End.

Memorable Moments: Celebrated a favorite preservation story involving a committee member’s spirited expression of frustration, symbolizing the passion and humor that shaped the committee’s unique culture.
