We normally share pics of talent or work our talent has done but I came across this from a friends post, Dawn Landrum, a very successful agent, and all around great person.:) Her words are shared here and I hope this will inspire you to enjoy the journey and growth that happens in the process. This is a very competitive industry, more so than ever. Being in this industry for 5o years I have seen a lot of changes. I have to remind actors and parents of this often. They have this vision of “old Hollywood” with the glam and luxury in mind and expect that to be their acting life.
Hollywood is not as it once was.
Stars are bankrupt or have to have multiple survival jobs.
There are not just a few hundred others they are competing against…there are hundreds of thousands, maybe millions now.
The point is that we all have to rewrite expectation with logic and realism. Understanding how the industry, the world, is right now and learning to navigate within it is key.
You can be perfectly content and happy where you are now if you allow yourself to find happiness in each day.
Create your “mansion” from your little house or apartment now. Decorate as you would if it was huge. Surround yourself with what makes you smile.
Don’t just keep saying “when I have success and bigger house I will…”
Treat your “now” with the same vigor.
Enjoy your “now” and the journey because what you actually do have is what someone else is dreaming to one day have.
