Founded in early 1994 by Ken Waagner and was an in-house record label at The Chicago Recording Company. Recordings was/is and independent recording company based in Chicago, Illinois. The label was co-founded by Ken Waagner and Mark Gartenberg in the fall of 1993 after the two spent a short period of time as the co-Managing Directors of Dali Records, a sub label of the WEA distributed, Elektra mar
keted Chameleon Records where they worked with artists including Ultramarine, Majesty Crush and Kinetic Order. opened it's doors in 1994 with the release of KC wall of sound practitioners Molly McGuire's second 7-inch and debut album, followed by the licensed release of Butterfly Child's "onomatopoeia" and Sardina's "Presents" in a whirlwind first two years. added Triple Fast Action, Shiner, Boys Life and Giant's Chair to the singles bins and Butterfly Child's "Honeymoon Suite" and Global Communication's "Remotion" from Dedicated Records in the UK, followed by the release of Scottish journeyman Chris Connelly's band The Bells. It was also during 1995, we began trying to track down ex-Talk Talk members Paul Webb and Lee Harris' .O.Rang project and released their two albums "Herd of Instinct" and "Fields & Waves". During 1996 we spent a good deal of time working on Molly McGuire's "Lime", Shiner's "Lula Divinia" (a joint release with DeSoto Records) and Butterfly Child's "Soft Explosives" all of which were released over 1997-98, while HitIt! inked a manufacturing and distribution deal with ADA, Molly McGuire signed to Epic Records and Triple Fast Action signed to Capitol. the label played a significant role in the Chicago music scene from 1993 onward - the label crashed due to a Y2K error, but was recently restored and reactivated.
