🏳️🌈QUEER-FRIENDLY BAR AND MUSIC VENUE IN PLAZA-MIDWOOD IS FULL OF LIFE
Ecenrs like Jazz Nights, Sapphic Nights, TuTu Tuesdays, Karaoke Night and Hazy Sundays mold and transform Petra to become a specific creative community’s space for a time.
This venue was founded by, owned, and operated for many years by gay community members in Charlotte, first Connie Huddleston, then Jerry Brown, Dean Freeman, and Curtis Tutt — the latter two still having majority ownership. Petra’s was named after original owner Huddleston’s partner, Petra.

🥃🏭 NC’S OLDEST RUN DISTILLERY OPENS NEW LOCATION IN THE OLDEST MILL IN GASTON COUNTY: Come with CharlotteFive to Muddy River Distillery’s (@muddyriverdistillery) new location at the historic Mount Holly Cotton Mill, which is just 20 minutes outside of Charlotte.
If you’re looking to taste the oldest rum in the Carolinas in the oldest Historic Mill in Gaston County, Muddy River Distillery is the only place you can do that.
Upon arrival, I found the bar with super nice and friendly bartenders who made drinks like the Mai Tai—a silver rum with orange curaçao, lime and a dark rum float.
And, My personal favorite, The Painkiller, a pineapple drink, was made with their four-year rum, coconut rum, orange, pineapple juices, coconut cream, and nutmeg.
Then, I took a look at some of Muddy River’s rum products, which included coffee, basil, coconut and the aged Queen Charlotte Rum.
But, that’s not all, at Muddy River, you can enjoy 5 acres of space facing Dutchman’s Creek, perfect for its upcoming gatherings and live music under its 800 feet of twinkling lights.
What do you think? Will you give Muddy River Distillery a try?

💥A new Mediterranean restaurant is adding to the diverse and rapidly growing menu of international food options at The Arboretum in South Charlotte.
🥘
Roz Grill, which had a June 1 soft opening, is owned by Ahmad Altaany, who operated a kebab food truck and worked in restaurant management in Austin, Texas, before moving to Charlotte four years ago.
🥗
Altaany says Roz Grill will offer traditional Mediterranean food with a modern twist. You’ll recognize Middle Eastern and Greek staples on the menu, including hummus, dolma and tabbouleh appetizers and a variety of kebabs with halal meats and seafood.

🦜RIO 150 HAS A NEW LOCATION, SAME GREAT FOOD, AND MARGARITAS IN A BAG🍷
Rio 150 - known for having the biggest margarita in Lake Norman — is expanding, bringing its Baja California-style Mexican food to downtown Mooresville’s Mill One development.
Rio 150 Mill One had been set to open today at 11 a.m. The 8-year-old family-owned restaurant formerly known as La Unica Mooresville rebranded a few years back with the Rio 150 name. It’s owned by Rashel Limper and her husband, Dylan, along with her parents, Ruben and Martha Soule, and her uncle, Guillermo Ceballos.
“We’re here all the time. I feel like that makes a big difference in the service, when you have so many people there who care about it,” Rashel Limper told CharlotteFive.
