2. If they say “One-day special”, it’s not a one-day special.
3. If they say “I have just what you need inside my shop”, they do not in fact have just what you need inside their shop.

Someone tell me why Peter is trying to convince himself he needs to pack his retainer, which he hasn’t used in 5 years. He’s been wearing the retainer for 2 days straight (during the day even) to make his point 😂

Does anyone else do this too?

HAHA no I’m just kidding 🤪 Can you imagine?! But anyways we do have an update so check out our stories for another probably unhelpful hint!

Let me tell you, NOTHING (not even quarantine) has brought us closer than starting this account together and really, truly working together. I’ve always wondered how couples split up the work, so I thought I’d share how we do it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Peter’s roles🤴🏼
› stars in our viral videos
› responds to the “dump him” comments
› in charge of camera gear
› backseat driver 😡 then falls asleep, then asks “where are we?”
› drone pilot
› more technical photo & video editing person
› responds to comments & DMs (if it’s formal and polite it’s Peter, if its joking/random/obnoxious it’s me)
› works full time as a product manager whatever that means
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Claire’s roles 🙋🏻‍♀️
› website / media kit / biz manager
› plans / takes / edits photos & videos
› manages socials
› main driver (but y’all knew this)
› girlboss
› sends & signs all emails with Peter’s name because since working in corp America I know for a fact that signing with a male’s name is more effective 😕… just being transparent here
› planner of anything & everything
› works full time as a sr consultant whatever that means
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anything here that surprises you?

We haven’t introduced ourselves since our very first post so…HI. We’re Claire and Peter, two young adults based in Charlotte, NC. We met at our first job out of college 4 years ago and have since shared a love for travel and adventure, which all go something like this: I (Claire) suggests a trip. Peter says no. I don’t take no for an answer. We go on the most epic trip because it was a great suggestion. We (especially Peter) have a blast. And repeat! In between Peter saying no and me convincing him otherwise, do flight prices usually go up a ton? Yes. Do I get really mad about this? Also yes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anywho, just off of the top of my head, here are some random things about us:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤟Peter ran D1 track in college and beat an olympian because the Olympian got disqualified and Peter won’t stop bringing it up.
🤟But Claire has the faster 1/2 marathon time by 20 min.
🤟We don’t give each other gifts. If NOT gifting things was a love language, it’d be ours.
🤟We dine in at McDonald’s on Valentine’s day every year (I’m 100% serious)
🤟Claire has been painting for 17+ years and can reproduce a Van Gogh. Wanna see?
🤟Peter doesn’t drink coffee because he claims he is mentally strong and doesn’t need it (wtf)
🤟Before we met, Peter WOULD LEAVE VACATION DAYS ON THE TABLE (this hurts Claire’s soul) meanwhile Claire would take 3x more days than she had (for legal reasons this is a joke)
🤟I asked Peter to contribute a fact for this post and he said “Peter is smarter”

Things about us that you might not be able to see through social media:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👫 We are introverts! It doesn’t take a whole lot to fill our social cups.
👫 Shockingly, Peter is less camera shy and more outgoing in general than I am. He thinks its funny to never smile or speak in our content…🙄
👫 Online trolls don’t bother us in the slightest. We think they’re pretty funny honestly. No clue how we’ve adopted this mindset but it’s working well for us!
👫 I might rag on Peter a lot but y’all its a JOKE and let it be known, off-camera I treat him like the KING that he is.
👫 We are both very independent. It’s hard to tell since we run a couples account but we spend quite a lot of time apart and thrive on being independent individuals!
👫 We have DRASTICALLY different work ethics 😅😅😅 I will power through tasks, take on more and more and more things. Peter will “get to it when he gets to it”. It’s been a learning experience for the both of us (read: me hounding peter to get his shlt together) but hey I think we still make a killer team!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is anyone shocked that I am indeed very ✨nice✨to Peter?

How we saved more $ this year than any other year WHILE road tripping (📌𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💵 Cutting back on eating / drinking out: This is a no brainer. Partially because we didn’t know anyone while on the west coast, and partially because we were always working or on the go, we saved a massive amount of money compared to past years where we’d consistently go out on weekdays and weekends. Yes you sacrifice socializing and drinking, so this may not be for everyone 😅
💵 Free activities: We spent most of our free time outdoors, so aside from the occasional park entrance fee there wasn’t a whole lot that we needed to pay for.
💵 Certain areas (NOT CALI LOL) are cheaper to stay in than what we would normally pay in rent in Charlotte. It also helped that we went from paying 2 separate rents in Charlotte to 1 Airbnb rent at any given time.
💵 Car camping (and camping)!!! This is HUGE!!! The concept of sleeping in your car sounds pretty nuts but after a long work / adventure day it’s actually quite comfy. This saved us a handful of hotel stays and ended up being the more convenient option for catching sunrise or sunset.
💵 Random other things Claire no longer spends $ on: Hair, nails, excessive clothing, excessive makeup / skincare, designer stuff, workout studios, etc. Living out of one suitcase over the course of 5.5 months has drastically changed my perspective on material items and spending. Having minimal belongings is truly the most satisfying and FREEING feeling ever.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are also privileged to have jobs that we get to work really hard at to support ourselves and our hobbies 👍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What are some things you do to save???

At my first job out of college, I sat in front of a very nice man named Dave. We had low cubicles so he could see everything I was working on. I spent hours everyday on Google Flights and he didn’t say a thing. He’s the actual GOAT. (For obvious reasons this is a joke)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My favorite flight alerts (📌𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🚨 Scott’s Cheap Flights
🚨 Secret Flying
🚨 Dollar Flight Club
🚨 Pomelo Travel
🚨 Google Flights - not an email subscription but I usually end up booking flights through alerts I’ve set up on Google Flights

What flight alerts do you use?

HOW WE PREP FOR ADVENTURES WITH NO CELL SERVICE (📌𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📲 Download offline maps - We make sure our entire route is downloaded off Google Maps. I will usually download a much larger area than where we will be, just in case.
📲 Download trail maps - We use AllTrails Pro to download all trail maps before hand. I honestly don’t know what we did before we had AllTrails.
📲 Screenshot tickets / documents - Make sure to have copies of entrance tickets, campground reservations, excursion bookings on your phone or printed
📲 Do a little extra research - I typically will browse the internet a little bit more when I’m not 100% sure about the cell signal in that area. Things to look out for: 4WD only restrictions, road closures, seasonal closures, parking logistics. If a hiking trail is a bit more technical, I will usually find an in depth article on it and copy it into my notes so that I have it just in case.
📲 Bring extra cash (mostly for random entrance or parking fees), food, water, snacks. Ya never know.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Am I prepared or paranoid or both? 😂

Our road trip has come to an end because we’re breaking up. Just kidding…..We’re chillin in Charlotte where we will be spending the majority of the holidays, taking a much needed breather, trip planning, maybe doing some weekend trips, who knows! I will also be hopping back and fourth to Houston to see my family. We somehow came out of this 5.5 month road trip still liking each other, which I think is something to celebrate…but the tikt0k trolls would say otherwise. And best of all, we came out of this with A COMMUNITY OF THE MOST ELITE PEOPLE ON THIS EARTH AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU ALL.

HOW WE TRAVEL WHILE WORKING FULL TIME (📌𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s been 5 and a half months since we set out on our cross-country road trip while working full-time! Here is an inside look at how we do it. Trust me it can seem super daunting, you’ll have to give up some things, but it is 100% doable and we’ve truly had the most unreal 5.5 months of our lives. (We are super lucky to have jobs that give us the flexibility to do this at the moment.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🗓 MON: Wake up around 5 for our day jobs. Give our bodies a break from the weekend. Plan out any nearby weekday adventures. Work on content. Get groceries for the week. We’ve been working east coast hours on the west coast, which means we have to get up way too early to work but it allows us extra hours in the afternoon/evenings to explore. Small price to pay in our opinion!
🗓 TUES: Day jobs. Start planning the weekend’s adventures. I usually have a rough idea of our big weekend trips, but Tuesday is when I really start mapping it out, booking camp sites, etc. Work on content. (I will say a lot of campsites have been booking out early)
🗓 WED + THURS: Do our day jobs, plan, work on content, relax or check out any near by places after work. Run any errands and prep to leave tomorrow!
🗓 FRI - SUN: We’ll usually head out for the weekend around early afternoon, as soon as we’re done with work. Every weekend looks different, so sometimes we’ll camp for one night, sometimes 2, sometimes we’ll come back to the Airbnb if it makes the most sense! Then we start it all over again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We get this lifestyle isn’t for everyone!! Trust us, we never thought we’d be doing it either. If this inspires someone in a similar situation to GO FOR IT, then our job is done :)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is this something you’d consider doing?

# OF DAYS TO SPEND IN THE AZORES - PER ISLAND (📌𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Honesty we could spend months here but thats not how life works sometimes so here is a handy guide from our experience as well as information gathered online (for the islands that we were not able to visit). We recommend spending quality time on the islands, meaning choosing 1-3+ islands over trying to see them all. Also, it is more cost effective to stick within regions or neighboring regions, rather than jumping across multiple.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Eastern Islands:
🏝 São Miguel - 4-5 Days
🏝 Santa Maria - 2-3 Days
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Central Islands:
🏝 Faial - 2-3 Days
🏝 Pico - 2-3 Days
🏝 Terceira - 2-3 Days
🏝 Sao Jorge - 2-3 Days
🏝 Graciosa - 2-3 Days
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Western Islands:
🏝 Flores - 2-3 Days
🏝 Corvo - Half Day
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How many Azorean islands are on your bucket list??

TIPS FOR TRAVELING TO THE AZORES (📌𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☀️ Best time to go: Summer is peak season and winter will bring more wind / rain, however temps are mild year round.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏠 Limited options: The smaller the town, the fewer dining and housing options you’ll have. Some towns may only have 1-3 restaurants. Book accommodations early, make dining reservations, and embrace the remoteness!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🚙 Car vs. tours: We recommend renting a car on most islands however you can definitely book guided tours that provide transportation services. The roads are very narrow but manageable FYI
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌨 Weather website: Windguru is used by the locals. Great for hourly tracking of weather conditions across the islands
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📱Webcams: There are webcams at the main attractions across all islands. This was a LIFESAVER and entirely what we used to plan out hour by hour adventures. If an area was covered in fog, it would typically clear in 30 min-1 hr and we were able to monitor all of that from www.visitazores.com/en/webcams
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏝 Be flexible: We suggest having a loose itinerary and then planning activities around the weather. The islands were small enough for us to drive around with not much of a planned route without feeling like we were wasting time if that makes sense.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📍Gorreana Tea Factory, São Miguel

Have we convinced you to visit the Azores yet? 😁
