GNTC SEES 10% INCREASE IN ENROLLMENT: Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) saw a 10% increase in enrollment according to the 2024 Academic Year report issued by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).

GNTC officials attribute the growth in enrollment to increased numbers in Dual Enrollment programs, more effective class scheduling, targeted advertising campaigns and Student Success efforts.

Enrollment was 8,836 students for Academic Year 2024, up from 8,031 students in the previous academic year, according to the report. The Academic Year 2024 ran from the fall 2023 semester through the spring and summer 2024 semesters.

PHYSICAL THERAPY HELPS FORMER MINISTER REGAIN STRENGTH TO OFFICIATE GRANDDAUGHTER’S WEDDING: After cancer weakened Doyle White’s body, the longtime Dalton resident and Baptist minister was placed in hospice care, unable to move from bed without assistance.

But his granddaughter’s upcoming wedding changed everything.

Once he was strong enough to be discharged from hospice, his care team urged him to enter rehab and physical therapy to regain strength for moving about more independently.

White wasn’t very hopeful at first, but he agreed. He entered rehab and physical therapy at Regency Park Health and Rehabilitation, part of Vitruvian Health. There, he actively participated in therapy and eventually grew strong enough for his granddaughter’s big day.

👻ORGANIZERS SEEKING DONATIONS FOR THIS YEAR’S HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS HAUNTED TRAIL: Last year in Sonoraville, for the first time, a haunted trail was held on one night in the Sonoraville community to raise money to provide for local children in need at Christmas. The event raised enough money to “adopt” 23 local children during the holidays!

The date for this year’s Hope for the Holidays Haunted Trail will be in October (we will post when the date is set) and will be held in a new location to offer more parking and be a bigger event than last year! Organizers for this year’s Hope for the Holidays Haunted Trail are looking for anyone who might have some of the following items laying around that can be donated for this year’s event:
•Styrofoam boards
•Solar lights
•Black lights
•Sheets
•Plastic or tarps
•Pool noodles
•Old wood
•Mannequins
•Scary Halloween decorations

Anyone who has items they can donate, please contact organizers on the Hope for the Holidays Haunted Trail page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61562141690232&mibextid=ZbWKwL
