Tonight: It will be windy early on, with thunderstorms likely. These storms may bring strong gusty winds. The low will be around 50°F, with south-southeast winds at 20 to 30 mph. Rain is certain, with a chance of 100%, and total rainfall could reach one inch.
GORDON COUNTY AREA ALERTS.....HIGH FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR ALL OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA DUE TO STRONG WINDS... Expect sustained winds of 12 to 18 mph and gusts of 25 to 35 mph. Relative humidity is expected to stay above 25 percent. With dry conditions, high fire danger is likely. Check with local authorities about outdoor burning. If you choose to burn, please exercise extreme caution.
WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TODAY TO 7 AM EST WEDNESDAY... South winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected. LOCAL WRESTLING COMMUNITY REMEMBERS COACH STEWARD... Randy Steward, a respected wrestling coach who spent nearly a decade with the Sonoraville High School Firebirds, has died at 65 from stroke complications. With over 40 years in wrestling, he led Sonoraville to three GHSA traditional championships. Previously, he coached for 25 years at the college level, including stints at Ellsworth Community College and Loras College, where he mentored six NCAA D3 national champions and 56 All-Americans. An NWCA D3 Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee, he was also a sought-after clinician. In 2024, he was posthumously inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Georgia Chapter.
