Many of us who grew up in small to medium sized communities remember how great local, hometown radio was. The programming was focused on the community, covering everything from high school or local college sports to live remote broadcasts from the county fair and rodeo or any other local event, to interviews with community or government leaders on issues affecting everyone, to entertainment featur
ing local personalities and homegrown music. Sure, there may have been a bigger station up the road, in a bigger city, blanketing our town with the same nationally focused music from Nashville or the same celebrity gossip from Hollywood or national headline news from New York and politics from Washington, statewide and national sports from ESPN or Austin or College Station, but it was OUR hometown station which brought us our music, our news and politics, our sports and, yes, even our gossip! Now, here in 2013, we look at our own communities here in Hays County and we believe that the same needs exist. The media outlets surrounding us really have no vested interest in directly serving our towns. Those few not corporate owned are, as they should be, focused on their own cities and ad dollars they take from Hays County will never find their way back. Local non-profit outlets, while providing a valuable service, by definition are supported by their audiences but make nothing to reinvest in the community. Previous efforts at online programming have been amateurish and not of interest to a general audience. Our programming will be presented in both live and on-demand formats, available on any device; professionally produced by a team of highly experienced media and business professionals. It will be relevant to and of interest to the people of Hays County. If it matters, we’ll be there!
