Our latest song is now available!

In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul expressed his longing for a time when he would see God face to face and know the Lord as much as the Lord knows us. "Then Will I Truly Know" by Bill Fortenberry and Jordan Grigg captures that longing in an enchanting melody that unites all of us in a desire for our heavenly home.

One of the things I try to do with my music is incorporate poetic references to passages in the Bible. Stuart Townend does an excellent job of this in his song "How Deep the Father's Love." The last few lines of the song has always been one of my favorite such references. Here are the lines from Townend:

"Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart –
His wounds have paid my ransom."

The reward that Townend alludes to is found in the last verse of Isaiah 53.

"By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."
(Isa. 53:11-12)

NEW RELEASE!

Here's a recording of my latest song. It begins as a somber contemplation of the trials of the Christian life and ends with the triumphant realization of our victory.

For this song, I started with The Misty Mountains Cold and thought about how it would sound if the Dwarves were departing on a quest for God instead of a quest for gold. I asked myself what kind of treasure they would seek, what type of obstacles would they face, and what would their life look like after obtaining their goal. The result is how I imagine Paul Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress would sound if it were rewritten as a song by J.R.R. Tokien.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day! It's a great time to remember how much God desires for us to have marital bliss. Did you know that our song, The Kisses of Love is filled with Scripture references? What is your favorite Bible verse about the romance between a husband and wife?

I just finished the lyrics for another song. It's a missions themed song for a men's choir. I'm hoping to have the sheet music ready in time for next year's missions conference at my church.
