Technical Sound Designer
The Technical Sound Designer role at Wilmer Sound is somewhat of a generalist role with a primary focus on implementing sound into video games. At Wilmer Sound, we see this position as a critical creative role when working on Console, PC, VR/AR, or Mobile entertainment. Remaining focused on an aesthetic goal while solving challenging technical problems is the key to success as a Technical Sound Designer. Therefore, a good foundation in linear Sound Design is ideal. Finally, passion to be the best you can be is vital when supporting the highest-profile companies in the industry that expect nothing but the best.
Responsibilities
Implement, edit, design, record, and mix sound effects, music, and dialogue.
Collaborate closely with team members in different time zones.
Drive projects from inception to completion with little oversight.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent communication skills.
Understanding of game engines and audio middleware (e.g. Unity, Unreal, Wwise, FMOD, or similar proprietary systems).
Experience in sound or music production and ability to create high-quality audio.
Experience with studio and field recording.
Highly detailed artist.
Sound design portfolio.
Organizational and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of professional sound design and/or sound implementation experience.
Understanding of music theory.
Understanding of mixing.
Experience developing positional audio for Console, PC, VR, and/or Mobile.
Experience with building scripted solutions.
Scripting experience (C #, JavaScript, Lua, Python).
