Night Flight Music Live Presents: CIRCULAR JAZZ TRIO plays the music of Bert Wilson
Circular Jazz is: Dan Blake, (alto and tenor saxophones), Bryan Copeland (contra-bass violin) and Bob Meyer (drums, cymbals and certain arrangements).

Although not a "household name", within the jazz world Bert Wilson is revered by many of best in the business. Bert Wilson was born in 1939. At the age of 4 he developed polio which nearly killed him. Taking up the clarinet saved his life by helping develop his lungs. Since then his 73 years were all about creative music both as multi reed player (soprano, alto, tenor, clarinet and bass clarinet) and composer. His book of compositions is a challenging rich tapestry of creative writing in the deepest of jazz traditions. Bob Meyer writes "I am honored to carry on his music and thankful beyond words to have these two partners in the Circular Jazz Trio."

Duoscope is a saxophone/drum duo project that features both musicians interacting and listening deeply to each other's ideas and phrases to craft an instant composition. They also perform songs you may recognize. While Eric and Bob carve their own path as innovative musicians, the masters of the art form continue to inspire their music, the influence of saxophonist John Coltrane and drummer Elvin Jones are in the mix as are Charlie Parker and Max Roach. There is never a dull moment when these two creative musicians perform together. They are fully engaged as a creative force, taking chances while driving the music to an unknown destination. And because they both have a history of performing with legendary musicians who were creative leaders in their own right, they know how to do this as well. Eric spent years developing his craft with the likes of Dave Holland, World Saxophone Quartet, and Ronald Shannon Jackson among others. Bob has spent years performing with Joe Lovano, Jaki Byard, Kenny Werner, and many others. Duoscope will take you on a joyride, so take a seat, listen and enjoy.
