Friends, we had a wonderful time at ATX Short Film December Showcase! We are so grateful to Justin and everyone working behind the scenes of the Atx Short Film Showcase ( ). It was an awesome experience: crazy-talented filmmakers, amazing movies, and a very warm and welcoming venue...loved it! Really appreciate what you do for Texan films and filmmakers like us!

There is no better month to celebrate “Evy’s Wish” short film than December.
Thank you for showing our heartwarming Christmas film. What an honor to be here alongside many great talents of Austin filmmakers.

I was stoked witnessing how amazing looks and sounds on a big screen. Each of the 20 cast & crew made this film great. Check them out on instagram feed.

As I sat at the very back, watching the audiences’ reactions, their joy and tears, right at that moment I was reminded that this is why I love making films, especially with the story that touches people’s hearts like Evy’s Wish, written beautifully by Sanju Jacob.

And when you work on a passion project with producer Pati Currie, she will make an indie film become not just a product, but the magic that makes us family with such a meaningful journey.

Also, we wouldn’t be where we are without all of our investors and supporters. Your faith for believing in us has been such a gift. Truly means the world for indie filmmakers like us.

It is now 3 AM, my heart is full, my brain is hyper, I can go on and on of how proud I am of this film and team 😂 What a blessing.

In the midst of Texas weather uncertainties, our day 4 (last day) of filming is finally done with blue sky, cold front and rainbow. What a blessing! It’s a wrap with total of 21 amazing cast and crew involved in the 4 days production of . This is truly a dream team to work with. And we won’t be able to do this without all of your support.

EVELYN: [LEAD] Asian-American Girl, 5-8 yrs old. Feisty yet very Caring and Understanding. Evy is a typical six-year -old who believes that anything is possible in this world and all you need is to ask for it. Yet, she is also so caring and understanding that she doesn’t bother her mother, Anna, too much with her wants. Evelyn’s only wish for Christmas is to get a pair of pretty pink shoes to replace her old worn-out ones, and she knows how to get it without burdening her mom.

DOROTHY: [SUPPORTING] Any race Female, 30s-40s. Confident, Tough, and Compassionate. Dorothy is a tough lady who loves getting her hands dirty. She is very handy and takes care of her property, a small ranch, all by herself. She has a 10-year-old son, Michael, who loves accompanying his mom on her early morning walks.

MICHAEL: [SUPPORTING] Any race Boy, 10-12 yrs old. Playful and Curious. Michael is a 10-year-old, who is always exploring everything around him. As the COVID-19 pandemic rages a six-year-old girl and her recently widowed mom, who is struggling to make ends meet, long for a bit of Christmas joy in their lives.

SYNOPSIS:
EVY’S WISH is a short feel-good drama that follows six-year-old Evelyn and her mom, Anna, living in Austin, Texas. Evelyn’s father passed away not long ago; a victim of the COVID-19 pandemic raging around them. Like many middle-class families, this brought immense grief and financial instability upon the family. Despite all these pressures, Anna wants to be independent, and be happy. Evelyn’s only wish for Christmas is to get a pair of pretty pink shoes to replace her old worn-out ones; and Anna’s only wish for Christmas is make her child happy.

As a storyteller, it’s been a joy and a privilege to make this video telling Jessica’s story as a first generation Vietnamese American whose entire legal career has been dedicated to public service. As an AAPI and immigrant myself, I couldn’t be more proud of witnessing her entering the race in the 2022 Democratic primary to be the first Asian-American district court judge in Travis County.
