ChingoZine is a zine featuring drawings, design, and print work of emerging Latinx artists published by the Puro Chingon Collective. In Spanish “chingo” is a slang term for “lots of” or a “plethora of.” Zine is an abbreviated form of “fanzine” and is typically a low-cost publication distributed to members of alternative, counter, and subcultures. Typically, the readership of zines consists of loya

l and prideful readers that interpret the owning of a zine as a significant relationship with the creators and the contents which comprise the zine. Through a zine format, ChingoZine aims to create an accessible and affordable art publication that will be circulated online in print. ChingoZine enhances Latinx’s contributions to zine culture and creates a history and place for their artwork. ChingoZine co-founders are Texas-based artists and designers Mark Aguilar, James Huizar, Claudia Aparicio-Gamundi, and Claudia Zapata (editor of ChingoZine).
