In the fall, we’re used to hearing his voice in the production trailer during our broadcasts of Ouachita Tiger Football, but today it was good to have Ouachita Baptist University Communications Department alumnus and friend Rex Nelson be able to step inside the trailer and check things out and join us for halftime with Chase Hartsell. Rex was in town to check out the Tigers and Lady Tigers, visit with some Tiger greats and take part in tonight’s 50th anniversary celebration of the Ouachita Student Foundation.

Thanks to the work and engineering of our OSDN students, today brought the first REMI (remote) broadcasts in the five years of OSDN broadcasts.

Cameras at Langston Field for Ouachita softball, production trailer behind Vining Arena and second set of equipment for our first-ever tennis broadcast.

Tune in tonight at 5:00 on www.osdn.live for No. 25 Ouachita Tiger tennis vs. Delta State and you can catch a video stream of the second game of Ouachita softball’s season-opening double-header vs. Northwest Missouri State on the site as well.

A double-overtime heartbreaker in the women’s game and a record performance from Tiger guard Emorie Knox in the men’s game made for a six-plus hour night for this outstanding group of OSDN students. Thanks to all of our Ouachita Baptist University Communications Department students for their great work tonight on our broadcast production and others who were shooting video and taking pictures as well.
Real-world lessons were learned and experiences gained tonight in how to produce a nail-biter and a document a historical performance in real time.
Great work students!!

We’ll have Basketball Thursday, Ouachita Baptist University Swimming and Diving Friday and back to the hardwood Saturday. OSDN broadcasts of Ouachita Baptist Athletics are back on the air!

Great work from our OSDN students in the fall semester. We’re ready to crank up the spring semester shortly and we’ll be back with more broadcasts, podcasts and more in the Ouachita Baptist University Communications Department.

We were happy for a couple of our students to work with the Great American Conference again this year to produce the Harlon Hill Award video announcing the winners.
Thanks to Chase Hartsell and Coleman Callan for their work with the GAC.
Excited for Ouachita Baptist University Communications Department students play a small part in this big award for NCAA Division II Football and happy that the award will be presented at the Little Rock Touchdown Club awards banquet in January.

The last few weeks wrapped up a busy semester of football-related production for OSDN (in addition to our volleyball and soccer broadcasts). In addition to our home Ouachita Tiger football broadcasts, seniors Chase Hartsell and Chris Gay did a 13-week internship recording the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday Preview Show that ran every Friday night during high school football season on 40-plus stations around the state of Arkansas.

Chase also wrapped up his second year of voicing the copy written by students in Chris Babb’s Sports Journalism class for the weekly Great American Conference “GAC Rewind”, used by GAC broadcasts crew as part of their pregame shows each week.

Coleman Callan, Gavin Wallace and Chase Hartsell also helped stream Arkadelphia High School Badger football games, and the department produced the weekly “Inside Badger Football with Trey Schucker” for Arkadelphia High School.

Some great real-world experience for our Ouachita Baptist University Communications Department students!

Tremendous job on our first Ouachita Tiger Football broadcast of the season by our OSDN students. Plugged on through issues and figured out how to adjust on the fly all while adding a few new elements. Excited for more broadcasts this week with soccer and football later this week and our first volleyball broadcast of the season this Tuesday. We have great students in the Ouachita Baptist University Communications Department.
