MFA students from the Helen Zell Writers' Program staff it as printer's Devils. The primary work of the press is the production of short run editions of contemporary art, poetry and fiction. These editions are given as gifts at events hosted by the University of Michigan. The shop is equipped with the Moran Type Collection, purchased from the estate of John Moran of Muskegon, Michigan. The press,

a 10x15 Chandler and Price Old Style manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio at the start of the last century, was purchased from the estate of Thomas Trumble of Parma, Michigan. The press was operated by Tom and his wife Suzy. The Trumbles purchased it from Lee Chamberlain, then owner of Lee Printing, formerly The Parma News Publishing Company. That company had been previously owned by Chase Osborn III, grandson of the late Governor. Governor Chase Osborn Sr. gave the Parma News (and the press) to his grandson in 1939.
